For some reason, the term "Rom-Com" is easily becoming one of the more annoying terms in the film world. The only thing worse would probably be an attempt at "Romedy," but lets be real here--hipsters could just say romance instead, since all of those movies have implied comedy in them, and no one is greenlighting movies from books with Fabio on the cover.
I tend to agree with you, but I must admit I do use that term fairly regularly. It's just the established lingo and much easier than saying, "A Katherine Heigl movie."
